Gemma Medina

Gemma Medina Estupiñán (SP, 1975) has a PhD degree in contemporary art history and humanities. She is an independent curator and art educator that researches and implements the idea of Arte Útil, collaborative practices and alternative pedagogies as other ways of instituting (rethinking art history, art institutions and archives). She participates in projects that fall outside the standard artistic discourse, bringing art closer to a non-specialised audience. Currently she is tutor at UOC and she is co-founder of Axioma Laboratorio de Mediación Artística (Canary Islands, ES): a platform encouraging the uses of art and archives as communal resources of knowledge.
