Carmen Molenaar
Carmen Molenaar is a visual artist using her work to investigate our relationship with our non-human neighbours. In search of hidden, forgotten and lost stories of the natural world, she dives into the geology and ecology of her surroundings. Mountains, rivers and movements of the earth are often protagonists in her work, both as subjects and co-creators. Through the question ‘How to become a Mountain’ she investigates what it means to live and work as a holobiont in this interdependent world. Creating sensitive works, Carmen uses photography, film, sound, and text, along with natural materials such as river clay and local plants.
