Andrea Pagnes
Venetian-born artist, performer and writer Andrea Pagnes (he/him) has been working with German artist Verena Stenke (she/they) as VestAndPage since 2006. They gained international recognition in performance art, performance-based film, writing, applied drama and temporary artistic community projects. Their contextual art practice is conceived in response to thin places where the visible and the invisible entwine. Their poetics of relations examines notions of temporalities, memory strata, frailty, endurance, pain sublimation, risk-taking, and inclusiveness, with a poetic approach to the human body and a focus on universal human experiences. VestAndPage are the founders and curators of the Venice International Performance Art Week and received the Best Film Award at the Berlin Independent Film Festival (2018). Pagnes’ theoretical and creative texts have been published in academic journals, magazines, and books and translated into several languages. As a researcher, he earned the Robert-Schuman-Silver Medal for European Unity. Pagnes and Stenke are lecturers at the MA in Performance Practices at ArtEZ University of the Arts and the BA in Arts For Social Responsibility at Unidee Academy.
