In the work of Barbara Walbrun various sculptures are brought together. The simple shapes are formed from strong material such as cement, wood and ceramic. Every work

is a direct continuation of the previous, but then viewed from a new perspective, based upon a different thought process, or by examining the same theme using other materials. The use of materials by Walbrun, can create the impression of conflicting properties. The hard en rigid cement becomes flexible and fragile while the ceramic seems strong and less vulnerable. The emptiness between the sculptures augments the interpretation derived solely from the materials or forms. The objects communicate with each other by bridging the space between them, becoming part of their existence. The images seem to create shapes of the void.
