Clare Butcher

Clare Butcher is an educator and curator from Zimbabwe who cooks and collaborates as part of her practice. Clare is committed to working within curricular and archival structures to unlearn their logics and redistribute their resources within other times and bodies.

Clare was Curator of Public Programming and Learning for the Toronto Biennial of Art from 2019 to 2021, before which she co-led the program unsettling Rietveld Sandberg with Judith Leysner, and was an education coordinator for documenta14.

Clare is currently working with learning communities in various contexts such as BEAR, ArtEZ and the Centre for Curating the Archive, University of Cape Town.
