Az Oor

Az Oor is an artist, poet, and social worker; he uses workshops, performances, and quasi-theater forms as mediums to invite conversations and engage in knowledge transmission and production. His practice also traverses different materials: drawing, photography, texts, textiles, videos, objects, and intervention. Through a multidisciplinary and hybrid practice, his work spans from research into architecture and proxemics as it connects to the politics of listening, to the iconologies and rhetorics of tourism as a hyper-colonization of spaces and territories. In 2019, he founded Surface, an ongoing lab of drawing and painting research dedicated to “surface” politics. He has exhibited throughout Morocco, Europe, and the UK (MMVI d’Art moderne et Contemporain, Crac Occitanie, Kunsthalle Mulhouse, Market Gallery Glasgow)  and has participated in several international artist-in-residency programs (Matadero Madrid, ISELP Brussels, Guest projects, London, Jan Van Eyck Academie, Maastricht).
