ThINK

The programme component ThINK is part of the theory programme of BEAR. In this programme, students are introduced to a multitude of views on art. This allows them to acquire the building blocks to ultimately formulate their own definitions of the field and to determine their artistic position. We draw on multiple perspectives and sources from within and beyond the Western canon.

ThINK addresses essential questions such as: What is art? What does an artist do? How is an artist positioned in society? What are the views on aesthetics? How can we define timeframes and (style) periods? How do we differ from, and how are we alike other times? How can we unravel the past to reconsider our thinking about art, ecology, institutional inequality, anthropocentrism, and much more?
