INDIVIDUAL PORTFOLIO CHECK
During this check, of about thirty minutes, you make contact with a teacher and student and we’ll discuss with you your work and the possibilities to study at Base for Experiment Art & Research. We will give you extensive information about the ins and outs of the program and advice on how you can prepare well for the exam. It is also possible to request a portfolio conversation if you want to do one year after admission.
There will be written a short report after the meeting that is to be included in the official admission.

– Applicants must have completed vwo, havo, mbo (level 4) or the equivalent.
– Certain language requirements apply for this English-taught programme.
– Applicants must have successfully completed the entrance examination. During the entrance examination, we assess your chances of completing the study programme successfully.
PREPARATORY COURSE ART & DESIGN
Are you finished or soon to be finished with your HAVO, VWO or MBO programme and want to attend to Art or design school? Then register for the Art & Design Preparatory Course.After this preparatory course, you will be well prepared for the entrance examination of the School of Art & Design.
We will assess your creative, communicative capacity and critical reflection. In addition, we are looking for candidates that engage with the world around them, receive inspiration of it and those who are interested in contemporary art practices.
On the admission day you will have an interview with members of the admission committee. This committee consists of lecturers and students from the Fine Art programme. During the interview you will present your homework assignments and a portfolio of your own work. This could include drawings, pictures, photographic series, animations, websites, furniture, clothing, posters, etc. You will explain these and discuss the ideas behind your work. Also bring along designs and sketches that provide insight into your creative process.The admission committee with whom you have the interview will advise the examination committee on whether or not to admit you.
RESULTS AND VALIDITY
You will be notified of whether you have been admitted within three working weeks. Admission is only valid for the study programme for which you have enrolled. If you wish to apply for admission to a study programme or specialisation at another location you must register for this separately. The admission is only valid for the academic year directly following the entrance examination.
